Maathangi is another form of Saraswati- the goddess of music and learning, and there cannot be a better name for an institution that believes in art being a manifestation of the divine power on the Earth.

Dance can release one from the idea of the self and of the physical world just as the cosmic dancer Shiva or the Nataraja whose dance had the power to transform, create energy and provide enlightenment.
